Britten is from San Francisco, Ca. Growing up in the colorful and artistic city she learned to appreciate the arts at an early age. Fortunately she was gifted with open minded mother who recognized and encouraged her talent at a young age… Allowing her to draw and paint on the walls and sending her to Italy to study art in Florence. With a degree in Fine Art, traditional European training, and experience as a graphic artist, Britten has found her own place in the contemporary art world. She strives to express an intangible and ethereal moment… to translate emotion into a visual language. Capturing the essence and transmitting it onto the canvas with application of multiple layers. First, a water based interference, oil, resin, gold, silver and copper leaf which results in her luminous inner landscapes; challenging the viewers to explore new realities and inviting a change of perception.
Fearless in her exploration, Britten embraces universal elements of nature – Earth, Water, Sky, Air, Ether, Metal and Fire, resulting in magical landscapes with underlying imagery of timeless ancient symbols. Britten’s passion for color in interplay of brilliant hues mirror her aesthetic sensitivity. Every painting is an invitation to discover new possibilities.
